I was amazed when I read in Sam Apple's book "Schlepping Through the Alps" (I do warn everyone about the inappropriate sexual humor in it) of how much anti-semitism thrived in Austria right after the holocaust as well as in the 90s and early 2000s. What amazed me was how quickly Austrian society acquitted former Nazis of their involvement in the mass murder of Jews and others. What also surprises me is how little people know about the holocaust and who Hitler was and how dangerous the ideologies the Nazis professed. It is truly sad that some in the church have forgotten and even jumped on the conspiracy theory band wagon. I was fortunate to have met the late Eva Kor, a survivor of Mengele's gruesome experiments at Auschwitz, (Eva and her twin sister are pictured in the photo for this article). Listen to her and Walter Sommers, who fortunately escaped the holocaust, at https://candlesholocaustmuseum.org/eva-kor/her-story/watch-hear.html I also encourage anyone to either get her book "Surviving the Angel of Death: The Story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz" or watch her documentary https://www.thestoryofeva.com/ Dr. Brown if you ever come this way around Terre Haute, Indiana it would be an honor to have you visit the CANDLES Holocaust museum. I encourage anyone to visit if they happen to be this direction and learn about this amazing woman and the horrors she and so many others experienced.
