I totally agree swkh - I too will not take the co-called "Pro Life’ stance seriously until it places equal emphasis on a few things, including - as you say - easy access to contraception. In addition, how about at least SOME mention or acknowledgment around things that CONTRIBUTE to the often excruciatingly difficult decision to end a pregnancy like: stronger maternity or paternity leaves; subsidized housing; food allowances; a rethought stance on 'purity' and sexual shame culture in the church; /subsidized/free and easy access to maternity care; subsidized/free and easy access to mental health support; subsidized post secondary programs; paid time off for ANY pregnant woman regardless of having employer benefits; easier adoption processes; subsidies for grandparents or family members to care for 'unwanted' children; and the list could go on and on.... To simply make this a 'moral' problem is UNBELIEVABLY short sighted, inaccurate, and wrong. I’ll end my ramblings with a quote. I like it…. ‘But perhaps progress for all human life could be more readily realized if we were to treat abortion as a problem to be solved rather than a moral issue over which to condemn others. As gratifying as the emotion of moral outrage is, it does little to bend the moral arc toward justice’.

Wow, czarpaul! Why didn't I think of that! Maybe you have an equally brilliant answer for this: my wife and I don't want any more children -- at least in the foreseeable future -- but we would like to make love every now and then. Any suggestions for us that don't involve birth control?

Just for giggles, before reading this article I searched for the words "contraception," and, then, "birth control." Nothing. I will not take the co-called "Pro Life" movement seriously until it places equal emphasis on preventing unwanted pregnancies.
