When you’re called to deal publicly with controversial issues, you can expect lots of hateful comments. It comes with the territory, and when it’s for the gospel and and for righteousness, it’s actually a cause for rejoicing (see Matthew 5:10-12). And even when it comes from within the Body, as long as you know you spoke the truth in love, you just pray for those who judge you and attack you.

So, I don’t post these wanting sympathy or encouragement — to be honest with you, although my heart goes out to the people who post such things, the posts themselves only confirm my calling and ultimately bring encouragement, not discouragement — but rather to share some of my world with you and to let you know what to expect if you take similar stands.

Someone who watched my interview on the Tyra Banks show dealing with “transgender children” had this to say:

“That Michael brown is an hypocrite , his own sweet Jesus was gay and he hated woman so thanks to Jesus we have transgenders and gays in the world , lol.”

OK. So the grammar and spelling need a little work, but the sentiments reflect the confusion that is so prevalent in today’s generation.

When I shared the testimony of a 97-year-old Jewish woman coming to faith after reading The Real Kosher Jesus, Denise S. posted this on my Facebook page:

“Nice post …….. a Jewish woman age 97 …… pathetic lowest of the lowest. Sick demented minds, who go after the elderly and the young, EXPLOITATION. Leopards don’t change their spots – eh, 2000 years and still counting. Can’t even follow the most important thing of all …. Love your neighbor as yourself …… you can’t your so full of your own ego. You want validation you will get yours, be rest assured.”

This prompted me to write an article in response.

Tim, a professing believer was not happy with my comments about the Brownsville Revival, posting this on my YouTube channel (of course, it was pulled for violating our posting guidelines, as were the next few comments):

“It was a false revival. There may have been a Spirit, but it resembled nothing found in scripture. People, making animal sounds, laughing and shaking uncontrollably ect. It was men looking for signs and wonders disregarding what the Bible taught.”

Obviously, he had never attended a single service, so I wrote back to him, letting him know the truth about what God did in the revival. That’s when I discovered another comment he had posted on my YouTube debate on Calvinism with my friend Dr. James White :

“Amen,I certainly wouldn’t call Brown a brother, He denies the gospel, He denies what Christ did on the cross and denies Jesus has the power to save and keep His Church without man’s help. Browns God is not God.”

What an enlightened soul!

Another gentleman posted this comment on my YouTube debate with my friend Pastor Bruce Bennett:

“Michael Brown the WILL WORSHIPPER (HUMAN WILL) AND HERITIC.”

How extraordinary! If you believe what the Scriptures teach — namely, that God chose to give us a choice to receive His grace or reject His grace — you are a “WILL WORSHIPPER” and a “HERITIC” (it looks like his spell checker wasn’t working either!). As I said earlier, posts like this grieve me out of love for the people who believe this, but in terms of how they see me, this just brings a smile to my face, as did this comment, posted in response to one of my articles on Townhall:

“Michael Brown is such a fatuous jerk . Same sex marriage will not ‘ruin’ America nor bring down the wrath of a non-existent Biblical bronze age god on us any more than allowing blacks and women to vote , blacks and whites to serve together in the military or to marry each other did.
Brown is noting but a ridiculous chicken little hysterically screaming ‘The sky is falling’ constantly. Long ago, politicians, preachers , and others were fulminating against “redefining” votng rights to include blacks and women just as hysterically as today’s religious idiots are screaming about same sex marriage.”

So, this is just a tiny sampling of what you can expect when you stand up and speak up for righteousness, when you pursue the fullness of the Spirit, and when you have strong convictions in the Word. A small price to pay! In return, we bless those who curse us and pray for God’s grace to flood their lives. Forward!
